Scooter Convoy
Saturday 24 September 2011

Travel Route: Seafront Oval  Extension to Scarness Park

mobility scooter

2007 The first convoy organised as a means of promoting safe scooter practices.
An attempt was made to set a new world record for the longest convoy of motorised scooters but unfortunately was not gained .

2008 A second attempt made with 97 scooters and chairs participating in this event. Unfortunately despite having the numbers required to obtain the record we also needed a specific length to be travelled on the route and we missed out on gaining the world record due to a short fall in the route length.

2009 We were challanged by Mackay but unfortunately for them they were unable to beat us as Hervey Bay managed to have 126 participants cross the line and gain thw World Record.

2010 saw us try to beat our world record but we fell short by just a few.  119 participants still came out and enjoyed the whole day.

2011 We are back and ready to beat the current world record of 126 chairs and scooters.  this year's attempt is planned for Saturday 24 September and pre-registrations are now open.  To grab a form or for more information give Seniors in Focus a call on 4125 6329

Come on everyone do not let the Fraser Coast down and we ask that you spread the word and invite your friends to participate.  Why not invite your family and friends to be part of this great event by joining us along the track to cheer everyone on.

The Hervey bay RSL Pipe Band will lead the convoy into Scarness Park as they have done since the beginning and the Hervey Bay LIONs will be cooking the sausages while the guys from the Older Men Unlimited Fishing Group will be supplying the drinks.

The Seniors in Focus Projects volunteers and members of the Junior Council will be supporting participants on the day and on arrival at scarness we will be entertined by local group 'B' Side.  A seated Zumba demonstration will also occur.
